What type of roofing materials should I choose?
The most common roofing material in New Zealand is long run metal roofing. It is also one of the most cost-effective options per square meter compared to other options such as slate, copper, concrete or clay tiles which are why we consider it the best material for your roofing project.
Long run metal roofing is a classic look that doesn’t date. It’s lightweight, easy to install, and comes in a wide range of colours and profiles that can really make your roof look great. Different types of paint finishes provide for different conditions and environments depending on where you live and guarantee years of stress-free wear.
Where you live will also influence everything from the colour you choose to the product you select. For example the closer you get to the coast and saltwater from wind conditions the more likely it will be that you’ll need a specialist product.
A long run metal roof is strong, lightweight and can be installed in a shorter time frame than other roofing materials ensuring a great price against other more expensive options.
However, please remember if you are changing a roofline or an existing roofing product on your home you must apply for a building consent. No building consent is necessary if a ‘like-for-like’ roof cladding is being installed, or for repair work or normal re-roofing where a roof is more than 15 years old.
